University Professor of Philosophy and Neural Science and co-director of the Center for Mind, Brain, and Consciousness at New York University.
He specializes in issues about consciousness, and also works on many other issues in philosophy and cognitive science. His books include _The Conscious Mind: In Search of a Fundamental Theory_ (1996) and _Constructing the World_ (2010).
Chalmers co-founded the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness and has organized some of the most important conferences in the field. He is currently writing a book about philosophical issues arising from virtual reality.
